Municipalities & Public Agencies
Public affairs for the communities that serve residents.
Towns, cities, and public agencies run on trust. We give every department one voice, so residents get clear, timely, accurate information and know where to find it.
Sound familiar?
Local government communications break down in the same places.
Police, fire, public works, and the library each post on their own, and residents can't tell which page is official.
Website posts push to social automatically, so there's no real conversation with residents.
There's no media policy and no trained spokesperson, so the story gets told by someone else.
Meetings, events, and public input sessions draw the same few people every time.
How we help.
Public affairs discipline from someone who has done the job.

Questions.
Straight answers before you apply.
What does a fractional public affairs officer do?
The same job a full-time PAO does, on a schedule that fits your budget: a communications plan, media relations, social media, spokesperson preparation, and a steady voice when news breaks. You get senior public affairs experience without adding a full-time position.
We already have someone posting on social media. Why would we need a plan?
Posting isn't the problem; coordination is. When every department posts on its own, residents get mixed messages and nobody owns the response when something goes wrong. A plan gives every department the same voice, the same priorities, and a clear process.
Do you work with towns near military installations?
Yes. Communities that host an installation have an extra audience: service members, military families, and the base itself. Kalen served as a public affairs officer in the Army and at Naval Station Newport, so she knows both sides of that relationship.
Do you work with firms that serve public agencies?
Yes. Consulting and engineering firms that sell to cities, counties, and special districts face the same trust problem their clients do. We help them sharpen their message, their proposals, and the journey a public agency takes before it hires them.
Can KMC Digital be hired through public procurement?
Yes. We can respond to RFPs and RFQs and work under sole-source agreements. We don't write proposals or capability statements for other companies; for that we refer firms to a trusted partner.
