Like most business owners, you know that you need a marketing strategy. But what many people don’t realize is that there is no one-size-fits-all marketing strategy.

What works for one business may not work for another. That’s why it’s essential to tailor your marketing strategy to fit your own unique needs and goals. This blog post will discuss the steps you need to take to build a marketing strategy that works for your business!

Define Your Sales Goals

Building a marketing strategy starts with understanding your goals and objectives. Without knowing what you hope to achieve, it’s difficult (if not impossible) to develop strategies that will help reach those long-term expectations! Set measurable goals and milestones to track your progress.

Identify Your Target Audience

Next, you need to create an ideal customer profile that reflects your targeted audiences. This will help dictate the type of marketing tactics and messaging for reaching those customers with a message that speaks directly to them.

Discover Messaging + Design That Converts

Okay – so this is some secret sauce that 90% of marketers don’t know how to execute, let alone know about it at all!  Heck we didn’t either until this year!! You still have to do your research and figure out the basics outlined above; however, you will not have the messaging nailed down. You can use the sprint testing method to find the exact copy that converts, then test each part of the funnel piece by piece so you know it will convert upon launch.

Choose the Proper Organic Marketing Channels

You may want to use all social channels available (exhausting) or just a select few (recommended). For example, interior design companies or graphic designers should consider using Pinterest and Instagram more heavily than Facebook. In contrast, automotive repair shops might do well focusing on the Google My Business platform and online reviews feature. By researching how customers find your type of service/product, where your ideal client hangs out online, AND with messaging that is proven to convert, you can’t go wrong.

Create Effective Marketing Content

Take those incredible messages you have discovered and use it to create content that resonates with your audience. A solid mix of organic content to expand your brand awareness, and some paid ads to convert leads, will help you increase brand loyalty and build strong relationships.

Analyze Results

Make sure to track your progress and analyze the results of your marketing efforts. This will help you determine what is working and what needs to be adjusted.  Things you will want to keep an eye on are – social media engagement, sales, booked calls, types of content that are getting the most clicks.

Adjust and optimize your processes and strategy

Once you have a solid message and sales funnel in place, you can tweak, test new products and services, then continue optimizing. It gets pretty fun to see the results and have a business that runs smoothly.
